Press release from the Baltimore County Fire Department: December 25, 2021 A young boy was critically injured early Christmas morning in a 3-alarm apartment fire in Gwynn Oak. Fire units were dispatched at 12:28 a.m. to an apartment fire with rescue in the 6700 block of Townbrook Drive, 21207. First-arriving police and fire units found a garden apartment building fully involved with heavy fire. Firefighters removed the juvenile male patient, and EMS personnel provided treatment and transported him to Northwest Hospital; he was transferred to the pediatric burn unit at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. One career firefighter was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The fire damaged 16 apartment units and rendered them uninhabitable. Seven people were displaced. The Red Cross and the apartment management are working to assist the displaced residents. Fire commanders called the fire under control at 1:38 a.m. An investigation by BCoPD fire investigators is under way. This press release was produced by the Baltimore County Fire Department.
