Description
Hi - I'm a fiddler looking for a duo partner to play fiddle tunes, mostly Irish trad and self-composed. Ideally you're a female or non-binary guitar player with great rhythm and the ability to play by ear. Familiarity with DADGAD tuning is a plus. Bouzouki, keys, harp, bodhran, or accordion would also be fantastic, with a similar skill-set. I am also interested in playing with other melody players (flute, whistle, concertina, pipes, etc) who have a solid repertoire of jigs and reels.
I'm a female player in my 20s with 20 years of experience on the violin. I am both classically trained and have put a lot of work in on my tunes. I am learning from Winifred Horan and play regularly in Irish sessions. I'm a part-time teacher and a soon-to-be mom so this would be a fairly serious side project. I'm not looking to make a lot of money or travel any time soon. I hope to make musical friends and perform locally.
It's important to me that you live close by (Hillsboro, Cornelius, Forest Grove), and that if you're able to be, you're vaccinated and boosted against covid.

Sidenote: While I do love bluegrass and American styles of fiddling, performing in those styles is not my passion. I am also not interested in playing in any country or rock projects at this time. With respect and kindness, if you reach out about those styles of projects, I most likely will not respond.
My favorite bands/artists in the style I'm hoping to play: LĂșnasa, Solas, Liz Carroll, Altan, Eileen Ivers, Sharon Shannon, Martin Hayes, Talisk, the Kinnaris Quintet, Girsa, Kevin Burke, Flook, Dervish
Be well!
