Seeking help, looking for affordable van for our mom $900 to $1200

Hello, my mom is homeless and lives in her mini van. She came to visit us last night from Morro bay. and we think her transmission blew out. We will have the confirmation from the shop on Monday on this but ya that's what it looks like. It won't move forward, and It likely won't be worth fixing. So my brother and I must buy her a van. Seeing as it's winter this is urgent. We don't have the ability to house her long term, I just had twins, and my brother just rents a room. We will have cash ready to buy, up to $1200, maybe a little more depending. Any help to avoid the junk sellers would be appreciated. Thank you! Merry Xmas!
