Ages 4yrs- 13yrs Fortis Institute dental assisting instructors and students will provide dental exams free to children in the community. The American Dental Association (ADA) Foundation’s Give Kids A Smile program was launched nationally in 2003 as a way for dentists to join with others in the community to provide dental services to underserved children. The event is held annually to: 1. Provide oral health education to caregivers and as many underserved children as possible in this country. 2. Provide care for, and find dental homes for, as many underserved children as possible, because every American deserves access to oral health care. 3. Raise awareness among the public and policymakers that access to dental care is a serious problem for many in this country, and no amount of charity care can solve the problem. Fortis Institute dental assisting instructors and students will provide dental screening, oral hygiene instruction and interactive games to local underserved children. Attendees can participate in giveaways and other fun activities all geared towards promoting proper dental care.
