Description
If you´re vaccinated and hungry for tunes - this is the class for you! Join Emily at Maine Trad at 122 Spring Street in Portland for 6 weeks The key of A can be many things - sweet, melancholy, raging, exuberant. Always always awesome. Join Emily for a 6-class session on A-tunes only! For fiddlers, this is a chance to explore cross-tuning. For chord players, it's a time to really get to know one key and work up variations. Each week, Emily will teach you a new tune and review the old. She'll send out a recording a few days in advance to get your ears warmed up. In class, you'll walk through the tune by ear, picking up learning strategies as you go. Style and chords included for each tune. This is a beginner-intermediate level class. If you're comfy with your A-scale, you'll do great! Most importantly, class is going to be FUN. If you're looking for a warm and playful space to play music with other people, this is for you. All instruments welcome, and encouraged. Classes will be held on Sundays from 5-6PM. Class dates are January 16th, 23rd, 30th, and February 6th, 13th & 20th Please email [email protected] with any questions or suggestions. The class is sliding scale $120-$150. To choose a different price option than posted on FB go to Eventbrite and choose "Donate" (If you choose to pay less than $120 choose donation). 1 space reserved for scholarship. Message Mike ([email protected]) if you would like to choose this option. Emily Troll plays fiddle and the accordion and hails from South Portland, ME. An avid lover of French-Canadian and Old-time traditions, she's spent many years at Pinewoods and Maine Fiddle camp honing her skills as informally as possible. You'll often see Emily playing with her all-girl band, Anadama who just released their debut album “Way Back When.” When she's not playing, she's probably dancing. When she's not dancing, she's probably digging bittersweet out of her garden. www.anadamamusic.com Maine Has a rich tradition of Folk Music, and Portland is the central hub of this still vibrant and culturally rich music scene.
