Join us to learn about the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in youth.
Participants who successfully complete the training will become certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid.
**This course is "blended". You will be required to complete a 2 hour self-paced training PRIOR to attending the in-person portion of the course. All necessary links and materials will be provided for you.
You will learn:
-That the peak age of onset for mental illness is early adolescence.
-The unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents.
-The importance of intervention.
-How to help a youth who is experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.
-A 5-step action plan to assist an adolescent in crisis or an adolescent that is exhibiting the signs and symptoms of mental illness.
-Resources available to help adolescents with a mental health problem.
The Elkhart County Suicide Prevention Coalition strives to educate the community about mental illness and lessen the prevalence of suicide.
