This 2¾ hr. session will provide Deacons with strategies to approach a veteran or their family in crisis & link them to needed resources. Deacons often encounter veterans and military families who are facing significant challenges. Returning home from deployment is extremely difficult. Long-term issues include post-traumatic stress, moral injury, substance abuse and suicide. Veterans often have lost their faith in God or feel completely unworthy of His Grace. This 2 ¾ hour session, via Zoom, will provide Deacons and Deacon-candidates with strategies to approach a military family in crisis and help link them to resources that will assist them in their healing. Completion of the training will certify attendees as “Veteran Resource Navigators” through the Arizona Coalition for Military Families.
