FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — An accused impaired driver struck a state trooper's vehicle Wednesday night on the Capital Beltway, according to Virginia State Police. Around 11:45 p.m., a state trooper had pulled over a vehicle for speeding at 90 mph on northbound Interstate 495 near exit 51, the Gallows Road exit. When the trooper was next to the stopped vehicle, a northbound Nissan Versa ran off the side of the interstate and hit the trooper's patrol car, according to state police. The crash caused the state police to crash into the pulled over vehicle. The trooper also moved out of the way to avoid being struck, police say. The state trooper confirmed the driver and passenger of the other struck vehicle were uninjured. Meanwhile, the Nissan driver was trapped as the crash jammed the driver's side door shut. The trooper helped the driver out through the passenger side. No injuries were reported to the driver. Courtesy of Virginia State PoliceThe Nissan driver, Corey A.
