First, today's weather: Milder with low clouds. High: 45 Low: 40. Here are the top three stories in Buffalo today: The Code Blues issued for Erie County and Buffalo continue through the week with another one issued for Thursday night and during the day Friday for Buffalo and Southern Erie County. Shelters in the area will be open as warming centers and to take in the homeless. (2 WGRZ)Health officials from the University at Buffalo say that the omicron COVID-19 variant has been detected in Erie County, marking the first time omicron has been detected in the Western New York region. Omicron was first detected in New York State on December 2. According to the scientists at UB, omicron was detected in samples of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 in December. (WKBW) Christmas is just two days away. And since it lands on a Saturday this year, city residents can expect their trash and recycling pickup to fall right on schedule.
