Press release from the San Antonio Public Library: Andrew Crews 17 December 2021 1965 "Poco Loco," Felix Stehling's new private club overlooking the Riverwalk, holds its grand opening. The new club is located at 505 N. Presa Street. Ignacio Torres, the originator of the name "Paseo del Rio," for the Riverwalk, was the architect. 1980 The newly reconstructed Olmos Dam is dedicated. Mayor Lila Cockrell cuts the ribbon, accompanied by Joseph Swanner of the Economic Development Administration, Judge Albert Bustamante and Walter McAllister III, SARA board chairman. 1991 Olmos Environmental Services has begun the delicate process of removing asbestos from the former Sears building, the site of the new main library at Romana Plaza downtown.
