He will be relieved of command of the 2nd Cavalry and ordered to return to Washington D. C. in February 1861. 1981 A Southwestern Bell phone cable is accidentally severed by a CPS repair crew trying to remove a utility pole damaged by a car. The outage affects 10,500 customers in the 73 exchange in the northwest part of the city and lasts for three days. 1985 San Antonio's first Times Square-styled New Year's Eve celebration will cost $39,000 in private donations. City Council approved the expenses today because the money will be placed in a municipal account. $30,000 of the cost will be for a 22-minute fireworks show by Paul Austin of Kansas.
