EAST HAVEN, CT — A woman has been killed after her vehicle struck a restaurant's business sign, police said. East Haven police along with the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit is investigating a one-car fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred at 4:16 a.m. on Dec. 23. Preliminary investigation revealed a woman was traveling eastbound on Foxon Road (Route 80) and lost control of her vehicle near John and Maria's Restaurant, 280 Foxon Road, and struck the business sign, police said. The woman was extricated from her vehicle and life-saving measures began by the fire department, police said. She was immediately transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital but later died from her injuries, police said. The road remained closed for several hours while the SCCTU processed the scene. The roadway has since re-opened. The name of the victim has not yet been released. "We would like to send our deepest condolences to the family of the victim of this accident," said Police Capt.
