SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — A series of earthquakes shook Southern California ahead of the long holiday weekend.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 3.2 earthquake struck at 4:44 a.m. Thursday near Aguanga, about 17.4 miles southeast of Temecula and 20.9 miles northeast of Escondido. It was about 2.5 miles deep (4.8 kilometers).
The temblor was reported after a magnitude 2.5 quake struck Lytle Creek in the San Gabriel Mountains in San Bernardino County at 4:16 a.m. Thursday.
Two other earthquakes were reported near the Salton Sea Wednesday night, according to the USGS. The first, a magnitude 2.6, struck at 6:47 p.m. about 6 miles northwest of Borrego Springs. The second, a magnitude 2.9, hit at 9:04 p.m. about 12 miles west of Westmoreland.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
