NEWTOWN, PA — The Newtown Board of Supervisors honored a retiring community member with a plaque for his years of service on Wednesday evening. "Allen Fidler, a lifelong resident, has guided Newtown Township through many changes as we have grown from a farming village to a bustling suburb," the supervisors said in a prepared statement. Fidler is a former Township Supervisor and member of the Capital Planning Committee, the Joint Municipal Sewer Authority, and the Joint Downtown Newtown Corporation. He is currently chairman of the Planning Commission. Supervisors also called out Fidler's volunteer work as a member and past president of the Newtown Rotary Club and a founding member of the Newtown Business Commons Association Board of Directors. "Allen Fidler has shared his knowledge of the Township and has mentored all of his committees and respective members, helping them to preserve the history while still fostering an enthusiasm for our Township's growth," supervisors said. Fidler received the plaque Wednesday as a commendation to his "kind, patient, and generous guidance." Be the first to know what's going on in Newtown when you hit subscribe.
