Increase confidence by learning how to manage and prevent Type II diabetes during a free six-week virtual "Take Charge of Your Diabetes" workshop being offered by the McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH). Adults with a diabetes diagnosis, are pre-diabetic or care for someone with diabetes are encouraged to begin their journey to better health outcomes on Wednesday, January 12. The aim of the workshop is to reduce the long-term health risks for people with diabetes or who are at risk of developing diabetes. Each week, participants set weekly achievable goals and are provided diabetes management resources by a certified facilitator. Classes are from 5:30 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday beginning January 12 and conclude on February 16. To participate in this virtual workshop, sign-ups must be complete by Thursday, January 6. A device with a camera – desk/laptop computer or mobile device - and internet access are required to participate in the class Those aged 60 and older who are without access to a device but wish to attend can contact (815) 334-4580 for assistance.
