Los Gatos Town Council Meetings To Remain Virtual

LOS GATOS, CA — The Los Gatos Town Council will continue to hold virtual meetings indefinitely because of health and safety concerns for the public. The council voted unanimously during Tuesday's meeting to keep council meetings remote, though it had returned to the chambers in-person for several weeks during the fall. The resolution was passed pursuant to Assembly Bill 361, which allows legislative bodies to keep meeting remotely as long as Gov. Gavin Newsom continues a state of emergency. Not mentioned in the resolution were repeated disruptions of council meetings this year by members of the public. Several in-person meetings since the council returned to the chambers were interrupted by members of the public during verbal communications, leading to the public being removed from the room. In his initial remarks after being appointed, Mayor Rob Rennie called for civility. "I'd like to see us get back to being able to express our thoughts and opinions by sticking to issues and away from personal attacks," Rennie said. "I hope everyone will stay engaged and help guide the council and I through the coming year's challenges."
