Press release from San Diego County Sheriff's Department: 12/22/2021 4:38 PM On December 18, 2021, just after 3:00 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to a large property in the 12100 block of State Highway 67 in Lakeside for a report of a burglary. Deputies were directed to a house trailer on the property. The trailer had a vehicle parked next to it that was determined to be stolen. Deputies ordered the occupants of the trailer to exit. Thirty-year-old Ramon Sandoval exited the trailer and was detained. Deputies entered the trailer and found a deceased person inside. The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. Sandoval was arrested and booked into the San Diego Central Jail for 496(d) PC – Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and violation of probation. The Medical Examiner's Office conducted the autopsy and has identified the victim. The preliminary cause of death is pending further evaluation. The manner of the victim's death is homicide. The name of the adult male is being withheld pending family notification. The Medical Examiner's Office and the Homicide Unit are working to find the victim's family. Once the victim's family has been notified an additional press release will be issued. The District Attorney's Office was briefed on the case today. Sandoval will be additionally charged with one count of 187(a) PC – Murder. Sandoval has remained in custody since his initial arrest.
