Press release from the City of Albany: 12/22/2021 5:00 PM The following provides a summary of actions taken by the City Council as part of the regular meeting on December 20, 2021:  Annual Fire Prevention Inspection Presentation - The Council received a presentation of the Annual Fire Department Inspection Compliance Report including 100% compliance rate for both the Educational Group E occupancies and the Residential Group R occupancies in 2021. Reducing Vehicle vs Pedestrian/Bicyclist Accident: The Council discussed the recent increase of vehicle vs pedestrian/bicyclist accidents and the safety of streets. City has received a grant to do a street safety study which will start imminently and making progress on improvements.  Update of the Active Transportation Plan including the Local Road Safety Plan is included in the Council Strategic Plan as a high priority as the City continues to pursue street safety.  City Council Reorganization: The Council reorganized and selected Council Member Preston Jordan to be the next Mayor and Council Member Aaron Tiedemann to be the next Vice Mayor per the rotation policy included in the adopted City Council Procedures & Policies. Notice of Reorganization City Council Appointments to County/Regional Bodies:  The Council made a few updates to the appointments to county/regional bodies. Per guidelines included in the adopted City Council Procedures & Policies, these appointments should be mostly considered for 2-year period, and this is the second year of the 2-year period.
