TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed just before 5 a.m. Thursday while walking in the southbound lanes of Alabama Highway 69 South. The Tuscaloosa Police Department says the driver of the vehicle continued driving after striking the man, but stopped a short distance from the scene. The driver then walked away from his vehicle for a brief moment, before returning to speak with a sheriff's deputy who had stopped. TPD said this is not being considered a hit-and-run and the driver is being cooperative with investigators. The identity of the victim has not been released as TPD works to identify him and notify his family.
