WEST BROOKFIELD, MA — State police may have prevented an old-fashioned duel. Troopers patrolling Route 9 in West Brookfield over the weekend noticed a car with its tags covered. After pulling over the driver, one of the troopers noticed a pistol on the floor in the backseat. After searching the car, troopers found a replica pistol made by F.LLI Pietta made to look like a gun produced before the Civil War. The model found by troopers uses black gun powder, according to the manufacturer. The troopers also found a more modern stun gun in the car. The 32-year-old driver from West Brookfield was arrested and now faces a variety of charges, including possession of a gun, carrying a dangerous weapon, carrying a loaded gun and driving with a license plate violation.
