Description
My philosophy is "Everything I ever needed to know about business I learned on the sports field." From Behind The Scoreboard, I feature the sports stories that tell us much more than simply who won or lost. These personal and inspiring experiences of grade school, high school, college, other amateur and even pro athletes allow all of us to reflect a little more on what is important in life. ~ James C. Suzanne Is Hot To Trot
Suzanne Ament loved horses since she was a child. Earlier this year, she won the Spring Fling Schooling Dressage Show at the Lloyd Harbor Equestrian Center here on Long Island. Some refer to dressage as horse ballet. Others say that it is dancing with your horse.
Suzanne has been blind for more than 30 years. She said that similar to the relationship with a Seeing Eye dog, comradery with a horse has provided her with confidence. She also said that the riding experience, including the show, has been filled with fun.
The history professor now owns two horses. She enjoys her time in the barn to feed, groom and clean the horses. She finds it relaxing. Comparing the care with that of her dog, Suzanne said it’s similar but just a lot bigger.
