Learn to use a laser (yes, a real laser!) to etch creative designs, cut out unique business cards, develop components, and much more. Beginner Imagine using a laser (yes, a real laser!) to etch creative designs, cut out unique business cards, develop mechanical components, and so much more. Our Epilog is a small easy-to-use laser cutter with amazing speed and etching resolution quality. After learning how to operate our Epilog laser cutter at Fabville, students will be able to cut out and etch shapes and designs onto all types of products and surfaces. This workshop will cover exporting and preparing work with Inkscape for the laser to cut or engrave materials like cardboard, plywood, and acrylic. Basic knowledge of software like Inkscape and Illustrator recommended. The Fabville Fabrication Laboratory is housed at Somerville High School in a newly designed Engineering classroom which offers a dynamic co-working space comprised of daytime high school classes and afterschool programs for students and adults. When you arrive at the main entrance of the school, you will be greeted by a door monitor and directed downstairs slightly to the right as you enter. At the bottom of the stairs hang a left and you will have found FabVille. In order to ensure the safety of students and community members alike, all users must fill out a membership form before visiting FabVille.
