A documentary portrait of one of the most honored performers in American television history
Enjoy a screening of Ed Asner: On Stage and Off, directed by Kurt Jacobsen and Warren Leming.
Edward Asner was one of the most honored performers in American television history (seven Emmys, five Golden Globes), an intrepid spokesman for progressive American ideals, and the bane of the right-wing noise machine.
This full-length documentary probes his early struggles, inspirations, remarkable acting career, political activism, and his unflagging energy to remain a superb performer. Like his beloved screen counterpart Lou Grant, Asner’s personal credo was to comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
Following the screening, radio host Janet Coleman interviews the film’s co-director Jacobsen and Ed’s daughter Liza. If circumstances permit, renowned director Oliver Stone will make an appearance.
