Tonight's band: GRAND MARQUIS We're pulling out all the stops for KC Restaurant Week this year by offering a truly unique experience aboard The Ship. We've been excited for months to offer this to a select few guests. Tonight's featured band is the big brass powerhouse, GRAND MARQUIS. American roots styles from Kansas City blues to Memphis soul blend with the exuberance of a New Orleans second line party. A mighty chorus of horns, a groove-heavy rhythm section, and big, soulful vocals highlight well-crafted original music. Their live performances are equal parts celebration of our collective musical heritage, and hope for a brighter future together. One ticket reserves a table or seat and includes our three-course KCRW dinner, one complimentary drink from the bar, staff gratuity, and the show for your entire party. You buy the table and invite whoever you like to join. When you arrive at The Ship, our host will seat you, and we'll take care of the rest. Arrival and seating: 6:00-7:00pm ~ Showtime 7:30-9:00pm After 9:00pm the room will begin to fill as our evening crowds arrive. You're welcome to stay at your table as long as you like. BOOTH SEATING: One of five booths which comfortably seat up to four people. Sit back and relax! TALL TABLES: One of four tall tables which comfortably seat up to four people with good sightlines to the stage. PICNIC TABLES: One of two picnic tables which comfortably seat up to four people with a front-row view of the on-stage action. BANQUET TABLE: Our large banquet for up to eight people right in the middle of all the action with the best views of the stage. BAR SEATING: We have sixteen individual seats available at the bar for smaller groups. Enjoy lightning-quick service from our bartenders and enjoy the show! ABOUT THE BAND Grand Marquis is a big brass powerhouse, weaving old stories in with new tales for the 21st century. American roots styles from Kansas City blues to Memphis soul blend with the exuberance of a New Orleans second line party. Based out of Kansas City, over 23 years Grand Marquis has played more than 2,200 shows all across the US, and released 8 full length recordings. Also released vinyl recordings from Sun Studios in Memphis ("The Sun Session") and a tribute to KC soul singer Tony Ashley ("Can't Put You Down.") Other highlights include The Blues Foundation International Blues Challenge Finalist in both performance and self-produced recording categories, as well as multiple Kansas City publications' "Best Of" awards in both blues and jazz categories over several years.
