Come out and learn about the 7 principles of Kwanzaa with us and celebrate the first day of Kwanzaa together! Wear your favorite African attire or just comfy play clothes in Black, Red or Green! Your whole family is welcome. This event is open to the public so invite friends too. Starting at 1pm, we will have some stories and crafts. We ask that anyone experienced in celebrating Kwanzaa share with the group. After we will have free play at the park. Feel free to bring any games or toys you want to play with friends. We will meet near the large playground. Bring blankets and chairs because we have not reserved a pavilion. Parking is $2 Craft supplies are provided. Hey mama friends, we are Lani and Nicole! The mamas behind the collective. In the summer of 2021, we came together with 4 other mothers to create a new co-op to serve homeschool children of color in Tampa Bay. The Melanated Homeschool Tampa Co-op began in August 2021 with over 35 families including 80 children. After such a successful start, we wanted to ensure that the co-op had a permanent home and stable leadership to ensure its growth and success. As two passionate melanated homeschool mamas, we decided to answer the call. With the call to serve our children also came the call to serve their families especially the mamas. This is how the Melanated Homeschool Collective was born. We are home educators, education curators and self directed education facilitators. You may be someone who actually does school at home. Either way, in the eyes of the world we are homeschool mamas so we embrace it. As homeschool mamas, we understand the perfect blend of preparation, lessons, field trips, time, energy, worry, and guilt that are unique to homeschool mamas. This is why we created this community. So it doesn’t matter if your family is unschooling, deschooling, worldschooling, traditional homeschooling, or roadschooling. We don’t care if your curriculum is classical, Montessori, unit studies, charlotte mason, Waldorf or eclectic like us; if you are a Melanated Homeschool family then you are our people!! Welcome!
