Water Safety Instructor - Westwood Recreation Department
The Westwood Recreation Department seeks qualified candidates to fill the position of Water Safety Instructor. The Water Safety Instructor (WSI) will implement all aspects of American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Programs, while ensuring patron safety and enforcing facility rules and regulations. The WSI provides high quality experiences for participants that focus on the Westwood Recreation Department core values of safety, fun, responsibility and respect.
Responsibilities and duties include the following:
Prepare, plan and implement all aspects of the American Red Cross Programs and presentations as detailed in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety manual. Plan, prepare and conduct effective and safe swim lessons. Evaluate participants and recommend placement for future classes. Complete course reports and documentation. Ensure the safety of participants and monitor swimming activity to prevent accidents. Perform other related work as required.
Qualifications and experience: Must be at least 16+ years of age. Prior experience working with children in a group setting desired. Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid Certification and Water Safety Instructor Certification required.
Salary: This is a part-time, non-benefit position with a starting rate of $17.75 per hour.
Shifts Available: Saturdays from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
