NORTHPORT, NY — A Northport house was damaged in a fire on Wednesday morning. The Northport Fire Department was called to Main Street just before 7:30 a.m. Chief Dennis Sheridan was the first to arrive at the house, which was completely on fire, with the flames beginning to spread to nearby buildings, according to the fire department. The home's occupants escaped the house and were taken to the Northport firehouse to be checked out. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the one house. "Excellent work by the firefighters in preventing the spread of fire to adjacent buildings," the Northport Fire Department wrote on Facebook. A GoFundMe was made to help the victims of the Northport house fire. No one was injured, Suffolk police said. The fire was doused by 9 a.m. The fire's cause is being investigated by the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad, Northport Police Department and Northport Village Fire Marshal. Help was provided by the East Northport, Centerport, Eaton's Neck, Greenlawn and Kings Park fire departments.
