Happy Thursday! We're almost to Christmas and COVID continues to be a Grinch. Long lines and other woes have sapped the holiday spirit from many New Yorkers. More than 170,000 New Yorkers a day are now often stuck out in the cold, nervously wondering if they have omicron, as they wait to get into testing sites. Mayor Bill de Blasio again pledged to do something about the testing mess. Seven new testing sites and five at-home test distribution vans will open, he said. Those will be in addition to promised new federal testing sites, mobile CDC testing vans and state-run locations in Times Square and Grand Central Station.
