MINEOLA, NY — A person was killed after they were hit by a train near the Mineola train station Tuesday evening, officials said. According to the Long Island Rail Road, the person was struck by an eastbound train near the Mineola station at 6:37 p.m. The person, who has not yet been identified, was killed. The LIRR said the incident caused 45 to 60 delays in both directions on the Port Jefferson, Ronkonkoma, Oyster Bay and Huntington branches. Full service was restored by 9:30 p.m.
