Press release from Georgetown University: December 16, 2021 Georgetown students and alumni were among the names recognized on Forbes' annual 30 Under 30 list for their business ventures in the social impact, energy, and food categories. The prestigious list highlights over 600 imaginative entrepreneurs and changemakers that are "destined to change the world" and make a meaningful impact on society. Innovators and disruptors Caroline Cotto (NHS'14), Tara Gupta (MBA'22), and Zach Oschin (SFS'20) were among the Hoyas listed for their ventures – with many of their startups finding roots in entrepreneurship initiatives at Georgetown. Caroline Cotto was recognized in the food and drink category for her latest venture, Renewal Mill. Cotto launched the startup in 2019 with a mission to fight climate change and global food loss by upcycling food manufacturing into superfood ingredients and plant-based pantry staples. Cotto leveraged Georgetown's Angel Investor Network (GAIN) in the early stages of her business for access to capital, mentors, and advisors from the Georgetown community. Tara Gupta is the founder of Anamakos, a sustainable urban development startup, and Map-Collective, an online hub for carbon footprint tracking and environmental impact assessment. Map-Collective recently reached $130,000 in funding and has over 200 companies working on environmental data-based initiatives. Gupta placed third at this year's Bark Tank competition for Map-Collective. She is also one of Georgetown's Kramer MBA Entrepreneurship Fellows – a fellowship and scholarship opportunity for those with a demonstrated commitment to entrepreneurial pursuits. In addition to her recognition on the 30 Under 30 list, Gupta has also been named to the Forbes Next 1000 list, which highlights entrepreneurs that are redefining the American Dream with ambition, resilience, and business savvy. Elenas, founded by Zach Oschin, is a social commerce platform based in Bogotá, Colombia that has empowered over 100,000 women across Latin America to build and sell their own online beauty products. Oschin placed second in Georgetown Entrepreneurship's annual "Bark Tank" Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize in 2018 where he was named a "Top Undergraduate Entrepreneur" on campus. Oschin also tapped into GAIN for investment opportunities within the Georgetown network. "We are proud to see so many of our exceptional Georgetown entrepreneurs recognized on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list," said Jeff Reid, founding director of Georgetown Entrepreneurship. "Caroline, Tara, Zach, and so many others are using innovation to make a positive difference in the world, and that is what being a Georgetown entrepreneur is all about." Georgetown students are uniquely positioned to use their business acumen and creativity to effect positive change. Rooted in the values of Jesuit tradition, Georgetown prepares students to lead with purpose and make an important contribution to the world around them. Students and alumni have access to resources like the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative, which provides education, resources, and support to aspiring Hoyapreneurs at every phase of their entrepreneurial journey. Over the years, Georgetown has continued to maintain a consistent presence on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. In addition to the Class of 2022 honorees, Forbes has recognized Jake DeCicco (B'16), Raza Munir (B'11), Devi Sahny (C'15), Luke Schoenfelder (C'12), and Arthur Woods (B'10), to name a few.For the full list of Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees, visit the directory.
