Press release from the County of Dane: December 22, 2021 Elise Schaffer, PIO (608) 284-6142 At approximately 11:30 am on Tuesday, December 21, Dane County Sheriff's deputies responded to a burglary at the Whippoorwill Tavern, located on State Highway 19 in the town of Springfield. The owner of the business arrived in the morning to find an open window damaged from forced entry. A gaming machine, cash register and ATM were also damaged. The Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit responded to process the scene for evidence. The total monetary loss is not yet known. Anyone who may have witnessed activity near the tavern between midnight on December 20 and 9:45 am on December 21 is asked to call the Dane County tip line at (608) 284-6900.
