Translate The importance of fitness at Fork Lane Elementary School in the Hicksville Public School district showed as students participated in two Hoops for Heart events during the month of December. Hoops for Heart promotes physical activity, heart-healthy living, and community service. Among the activities that students engaged in were jump roping, sit and reach, basketball, yoga, and several others. "We've held Hoops for Heart twice this month," said Principal Susan Guiliano. "The students love it and they're having fun while learning about their well-being." The Hoops for Heart program teaches heart-healthy habits. Students were given a few minutes to practice each exercise before moving on to the following one. Students fully extend their legs and reach for their toes at the Sit & Reach station. Fork Lane Elementary student takes a moment from dribbling a basketball. Jump ropes were in full effect at Hoops for Heart. Students took turns to work on their jump shot.
