ROCKVILLE, MD — City Hall in Rockville will be closed for at least a little while longer, as the City Council and Mayor decided to delay the reopening date due to the omicron variant and the rise in COVID-19 cases. It was initially scheduled to reopen on Jan. 3 after closing in March 2020 due to the pandemic.
The Council and Mayor plan to discuss a new reopening date at their meeting Jan. 1o.
All City of Rockville employees are required to get the COVID-19 vaccine and booster shots. City Hall staff are continuing to work virtually.
"A vaccination against COVID-19 and a booster shot, as well as covering up with a face mask, are still the best defense against the virus," said City Manager Rob DiSpirito in a news release. "If you have not yet been vaccinated, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible in the interest of your health and that of our community."
