Danbury Man Busted Following Opioid Deal: Police

DANBURY, CT — Police charged a city man with multiple drug offenses on Tuesday. The Danbury Police Department began its investigation into Jose Adames, 45, following numerous complaints from community members, according to a news release. Over the course of the subsequent investigation, police "witnessed Adames engage in several suspected drug transactions," according to the Det. Lt. Mark Williams. Police established surveillance of Adames' Division Street residence at around 3:30 p.m. and observed him making a suspected drug transaction with Steven Hadad, 54, of Satterlee Road in New Fairfield. Police later apprehended Hadad and confirmed he was in possession of illegally purchased narcotics. Executing search and seizure warrants for Adames and his residence, police say they found him in possession of fentanyl, cocaine and Suboxone, a medication used in treating opioid addiction. Police charged Adames with three count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, one count of sale of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Hadad was charged with possession of a controlled substance. Adames was held for a $50,000 bond and Hadad was released for a written promise to appear in court at a later date and time.
