ROCKAWAY, NJ — A Rockaway Borough man faces charges for his role in his infant daughter's death, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. The charges come 11 months after the 5-week-old died.
Joseph Tarquini IV was charged Thursday with second-degree manslaughter and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. He was granted pretrial release.
Tarquini, 30, placed a 911 call Jan. 21 for his unresponsive infant, authorities said. First responders found his daughter in medical distress. The infant was taken to Saint Clare's Denville Hospital for treatment, but she was later pronounced dead.
Following an autopsy, the Morris County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be an acceleration/deceleration head injury and ruled homicide as the manner of death.
