WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — In the last few days, Western Springs police handled cases involving a burglary, missing drugs, drug possession, stolen money, graffiti and identity theft. Here is information from the latest Western Springs police reports: Burglary A house in the 4800 block of Wolf Road was reported burglarized Dec. 12. The house was ransacked while the resident was out. The burglar likely entered through an unlocked patio door. Missing drugs A bottle of narcotics was reported missing Dec. 14 from a secured cabinet at Boone Animal Hospital, 4720 Commonwealth Avenue. Drug possession Jennifer R. Johns, 38, of Park Ridge, was arrested about 4 p.m. Wednesday at Maple Street and Western Avenue on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. According to a police report, Johns was detained after officers responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle. Johns had outstanding warrants for her arrest. Upon being searched, cocaine was found on her, according to the report. Stolen money A resident in the 4300 block of Grand Avenue reported Dec. 14 that a check and $25 in cash were stolen from his mailbox. Graffiti Graffiti was reported Wednesday on a stop sign and a no parking sign at Grand Avenue and Chestnut Street. Identity theft A resident in the 5200 block of Harvey Avenue reported Thursday that $4,000 in charges were fraudulently made on his Home Depot credit card. Driving violations Jermael K. Morris, 28, of Cicero, was cited about 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at Ogden Avenue and Interstate 294 on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and people charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
