Description

Press release from the City of Peoria: December 21, 2021 December 21, 2021 (Peoria, IL) On September 13, 2020, Engine Company 2, which operates out of Station 8, located at 832 W. Hurlburt, was taken out of service. After determining there were enough funds to bring the engine back in service with the remainder of the existing 2021 operational budget, Engine Company 2 returned on November 1, 2021. Although Fire Administration has continuously monitored their operational finances to ensure that they remained within the budget, there were unexpected expenses and Engine 2 will be temporarily out of service from December 22 through December 25, with service reinstated on December 26. Peoria Fire Chief Jim Bachman stated, "This difficult decision had to be made for financial reasons. As we navigate through the remainder of the year, we will continue to monitor the situation and make the necessary adjustments as needed. The funding for Engine 2 is in the 2022 budget and will be in service beginning January 1." Residents will continue to be serviced by the eleven Fire Stations within the City.
