NAPERVILLE, IL — An Aurora man who was accused of throwing an explosive device at a Naperville police car during unrest that broke out June 2020 pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday, ABC 7 reports. Christian Rea had been charged with civil unrest in connection with the June 1, 2020, incident, which caused Naperville police officers to sustain minor injuries. Related: Aurora Teen Accused Of Tossing Explosive At Naperville Police Car More than 30 Naperville stores were looted or damaged during the riots, which followed protests that took place earlier that afternoon. Earlier in 2021, another Aurora man, Diego Vargas, pleaded guilty to throwing an explosive device at Egg Harbor Café during the looting. Rea will appear in court for sentencing on March 24.
