Local Detroit Group Will Provide Warm Meals For Families Thursday

DETROIT — Detroit raised celebrity chef Max Hardy will team up with local leaders Hon. Sherry Gay-Dagnogo, Each One Help One, Tiffany Lean on Me, Team Wellness, Fenkell Gospel Temple, and the I Am Hope Foundation to distribute 1,000-holiday meals for the Detroit community on Thursday. The group will stop at multiple leading nonprofits in the area, including Alternative Girls, 903 W. Grand Blvd. Detroit, MI 48208-2365 at 11 a.m., Team Wellness East, 3646 Mt. Elliot, Detroit, MI 48207 at 1 p.m., City of Detroit Fire Department, 1301 3rd St, Detroit, MI, United States, Michigan at 3 p.m. "The Christmas season is about giving, giving to family and friends to share your love and joy, but most importantly giving to those in need," Hardy said. "Giving to those who value necessities and essentials over material gifts. During this season, our team is prioritizing our Detroiters in need." The meals will be provided on a first come first serve bases, and consist of warm meals of fish, grits, chicken and waffles. The Royal Bird Food Truck will be the team's mobile kitchen as they travel throughout the community. The group, and its volunteers, requests all families and individuals wear a mask and stand 6 feet apart to follow all local COVID-19 restrictions, since the event is walk-up only. Chef Max Hardy is a Detroit native and owner of COOP Detroit and JEDs Detroit. He founded the "One Chef Can 86 Hunger," which is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring awareness and end hunger in urban areas.
