Understanding the potential lifelong impact of trauma on a child, teen or adult requires continual study. This advanced trauma-informed workshop will dive deeper into the four essential skills of trauma informed care covered in Module One: with attention to the impact of trauma on attachment, self-regulation challenges and sensory processing issues with children from hard places. Research demonstrates that the most consistent predictors of secure attachment are caregiver variables and that relationships are vital to helping a child attach. Attachment, Relationships, and the Impact on Development will be the core learning of this module. 6 Key Points of Module Two: Children of childhood trauma are 2X more likely to develop DEPRESSION! Children of childhood trauma are 3X more likely to develop ANXIETY DISORDERS. Clinicians are now beginning to use a new term to describe the symptoms of childhood trauma as Developmental Trauma DisorderBrains develop differently as a result of living in situations perceived to be unsafe or abusive or neglectful. The brain of a traumatized child can be "bottom heavy”Strategies to "touch" three areas of the brain; the thinking center (Prefrontal Cortex), the fear center (Amygdala); and the emotional regulation center (Anterior Cingulate Cortex).
