Description
The Wheeling High School Musical Theatre Department has been selected to perform Cry-Baby, The Musical, at the Illinois High School State Theatre Festival on January 7th at Illinois State University. The production consisting of 39 outstanding students that make up the cast, crew, and band, will get the honor of performing the show TWICE at the festival. Based on the cult classic, 1990 John Waters film, Cry-Baby features delightfully demented characters from the book adapted from the writers of Hairspray and a rockabilly score from the co-founder of Fountains of Wayne and the executive producer of "The Daily Show." Director, Stephen Colella, states, "after the last two years of insanity, I had one, and only one goal in mind this year when picking a show for this group of students. Something fun. The score is cemented in the genre of Rockabilly 50's and is outstanding, and the characters are ridiculous, so it was a no brainer with the kids that I have. Who wants drama after the past two years?" Wheeling is remounting Cry-Baby, The Musical, for two encore performances of on December 29th and 30th, at 6pm, Wheeling High School. The show is rated PG-13, for adult themes and language, and tickets are $10. This is the 2nd time this program has had this honor of performing at State after taking In the Heights to State in 2017. For tickets to the Encore performances of Cry-Baby, The Musical, please visit.... Or see attached poster! Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $10 but payment must be cash or check!
