Learn about and taste the newest and greatest wine California has to offer.
For decades California has been the center of the American wine world. With its preeminence has come different waves of dynastic dominance by different players. For a long time, California wine was driven by winemakers attempting to create powerful, high-alcohol wines where bigger was always better and where Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon were the only route to greatness. When this ethos began to fade, a greater balance and harmony was sought, taming the excesses of the past, while retaining a focus on intense, extracted fruit flavors. More recently, wineries have popped up seeking sustainability and minimal intervention techniques, exploring grapes and regions previously unheralded by the worshippers of all things Napa.
It is this newer thread that Evan Christie will be exploring in this class. Focusing on smaller, newer California producers, we will explore the current state of California wine making. In this class you will taste examples of classic and well loved grapes, as well as varieties you were not sure were grown in California. You will taste wines from well established regions and from up-and-coming areas. Extend your knowledge of what California has to offer, and join us for this delightful class.
COVID-19 Protocols: While we are excited to resume hosting events, we are aware of the risk that remains from COVID-19. Because of this, we are asking that all attendees provide proof of vaccination when they come to the class. The nature of our event makes social distancing and masking impractical, so until advice changes, our classes will be limited to vaccinated customers only.
