Kick off event for the JYCM LA held on Jewish environmental holiday of TuBshvat! Join us* for our very first Jewish Youth Climate Movement of LA kick off event hosted on the environmental holiday of TuBshvat! All new members are welcome for an in-person event at Shemesh Farms at 11 a.m. Shemesh Farms in Malibu, CA is a regenerative, sustainable and organic farm and social enterprise run by young adults with diverse abilities. Our goal is to make taking collective action towards climate justice a central, defining feature of what it means to be Jewish over the next decade, empowering the next generation of Jewish youth to be leaders in our fight to build a sustainable and equitable world for all. What is the Jewish Youth Climate Movement: The Jewish Youth Climate Movement, founded in 2019, is a Gen Z-led movement dedicated to combating climate change and environmental injustice from a Jewish lens. Our goal is to make taking collective action towards climate justice a central, defining feature of what it means to be Jewish over the next decade, empowering the next generation of Jewish youth to be leaders in our fight to build a sustainable and equitable world for all. JYCM is supported by Hazon, the largest faith-based environmental organization in the United States. Currently, there are 36 kvutzot (chapters) across the U.S., including the brand new Los Angeles kvutzah. People who are concerned about the environment need to get their hands dirty!____________________________________________________________PLEASE READ:COVID ProtocolsShalom Institute’s updated COVID-19 policy requires all participants of our programs to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination, either your physical vaccination card, a picture of your vaccination card, or a digital vaccination record must be submitted to [email protected] no later than 2 days prior to the Jan 16th event. All California residents may request a digital vaccination record at myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov. Participants who need a reasonable accommodation for medical reasons or due to a sincerely held religious belief must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to entering our campus. Masks are required for all participants, regardless of vaccination status. Per local Department of Health regulations, participants will be required to wear masks when indoors, except when inside their cabin with their cabin group.
