Oak Creek Police Ask Residents To Help With Drive Sober Campaign

OAK CREEK, WI — The Oak Creek Police Department is just one of many local and nationwide agencies participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign this holiday season, and to help keep impaired drivers off the road, police are asking for people to do their part. For the 2021 holiday season, Oak Creek police teamed up with departments in St. Francis, Cudahy and South Milwaukee to join the national "Drive Sober" campaign from Dec. 17-Jan. 1. The agencies said in a news release the campaign is not just about stopping people for tickets or arrests. Instead, the efforts are to save lives. The campaign is heavily focused on the holiday weeks, but police said in the news release they are committed to stopping impaired driving year-round. Throughout much of the year and during the holiday season, there are over 5,700 police officers with training in enforcing impaired driving and almost 350 drug recognition experts across Wisconsin, according to a news release from the departments. "Every person plays an important role in making our roads safer. Never allow someone to drive impaired," the departments said in a news release.
