Massapequa House Fire: 1 Dead, 3 Firefighters Hurt

UPDATE, 6:15 P.M.: Nassau County police have released more details about this morning's house fire, and confirmed that it claimed one life. Police say the fire started on the Bayview Street East home at 11:39 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the house fully engulfed in flames. The Massapequa Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze. During an investigation of the house, a man was found in a small room in the front of the home. He was pronounced dead by a Nassau County Police Medic. Three Massapequa firefighters were injured in the fire. One passed out and another suffered a burn to his neck. They were both treated at the scene. A third firefighter injured his foot and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The Nassau County Fire Marshall and the police are investigating.
