Authorities claimed that the student posted a threat on social media. On Monday, Loudoun County Juvenile Court Services issued a petition for the use of profane, threatening, or indecent language over public airways. The student has not been publicly identified due to Virginia laws intending to protect the identities of minors. A pair of scams were also reported to the Loudoun County Sheriff's on Monday. In one instance, a person said she sent photos to a man who claimed to work for a modeling agency. The man then demanded money while threatening to release the photos. In another scam in Sterling, a resident said he was contacted by someone that he thought was a priest at his church. The person asked the churchgoer to purchase gift cards and relay the information, which he did. The man later realized it was a scam and reported it to the sheriff's office. Both incidents are still under investigation, the sheriff's office said. The National Sexual Violence Resource Center can provide information about reporting and coping with sexual abuse.
