Description

Press release from City of Fort Worth: December 21, 2021 Construction is almost complete on Parker Henderson Road from Mansfield Highway to Pecos Street. Crews remain onsite as final adjustments to the project are made. The former two-lane roadway was repaved and, in some areas, widened to accommodate a center lane for turning traffic. The roadway from Lifestyle Circle to David Strickland Road has been reconstructed and sidewalks have been installed on both sides of the street. Sidewalks were also installed on the west side of the street from Pecos Street to David Strickland Road, allowing pedestrians safe access to Prairie Dog Park. The project added sidewalks to both sides of Parker Henderson Road from Willow Springs Road to Lifestyle Circle. Parents and students who walk to the nearby W.M. Green Elementary School can now do so more safely. In addition to the roadway and sidewalk improvements, the city rebuilt the bridge over Prairie Dog Creek to provide much-needed capacity for stormwater drainage. The runoff is now confined to flow under the roadway, which will reduce flooding on Parker Henderson Road. These improvements will balance the needs of motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists and will improve safety in the area.     Photo: The bridge over Prairie Dog Creek has been rebuilt so stormwater drainage does not overtop the roadway.     Get articles like this in your inbox.
