LONG VALLEY, NJ — The Morris County Police Chief Association's new President is Washington Township's own Police Chief, Jeffrey Almer. Prosecutor Robert Carroll recently installed the new officers at the yearly luncheon for the Police Chief Association at Florham Park's Park Savoy Estate on Dec. 14. Other 2022 Officers of the Police Chief Association who were sworn in included Mendham Township's Police Chief Ross Johnson as Vice President, Mount Arlington's Chief Edward LaBruno for Sergeant at Arms, Wharton Police Chief David Young as Treasurer and Morris Plains Chief Michael Koroski as Secretary. Mount Olive's Chief Stephen Beecher was honored for his role as the Association's 2021 President. New Jersey State Senator Anthony Bucco, R-25th Dist., was recognized as "Honorary Chief" of the Association because of "his support of law enforcement," according to a news release from the County of Morris. The Washington Township Police Department marked the occasion with photos of the event on its social media. Washington Township Mayor Matt Murello and Committeeman Ken Short were also in attendance that day, Murello sharing his own social media post about the event: "Please join me in congratulating the new members of the Police Chief Association Board and Senator Bucco," Murello said. Bucco praised the chiefs, after he received the award. "As a public official," he wrote, "I never forget the sacrifices our law enforcement personnel and their families make." "Our chiefs set the example and provide exemplary leadership every day," Bucco also said. "So proud of them all." Questions or comments about this story? Have a local news tip?
