Lewis Earns NCAA Presidents' Award For Academic Excellence

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Lewis University is one of 43 schools to receive the Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence, the NCAA announced Dec. 15. According to the university, this award is presented to Division II member schools earning an Academic Success Rate of 90 percent or higher. Lewis has a four-year ASR of 91 percent and is one of five schools in the Great Lakes Valley Conference to receive the award, the university said. The Northeast-10 conference led Division II's 24 conferences, with eight schools earning the award, followed by the GLVC with five and the Sunshine State Conference and Central Athletic Collegiate Conference with four each. "It is an honor recognizing 43 schools for this prestigious award," Steven Shirley, president of Minot State and chair of the Division II Presidents Council, said in a release. "I applaud these schools and student-athletes for their hard work, commitment and dedication to achieving academic excellence." The Academic Success Rate is the percentage of student-athletes who graduate within six years of initial collegiate enrollment and includes virtually all Division II student-athletes, according to a news release.
