JOLIET, IL — With the omicron COVID-19 variant quickly spreading and Christmas just days away, Shield Illinois, a COVID-19 test provider, is offering free tests throughout northern Illinois Tuesday. Testing is free, and visitors will have results in 24 to 48 hours, according to a flyer sent out by Plainfield School District 202 about the holiday screenings. No appointments are needed, either. Here is a complete list of testing sites, along with their hours Tuesday. DePaul University, 333 S. State St., Chicago (DePaul Center entrance) Hours: 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Northeastern Illinois University, 5500 N. St. Louis Ave., Chicago 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jane Addams Elementary School, 1020 E. Sayles Drive, Palatine Hours: 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Woodland Elementary School, 17261 W.
