JOLIET, IL — With the omicron COVID-19 variant quickly spreading and Christmas just days away, Shield Illinois, a COVID-19 test provider, is offering free tests throughout northern Illinois Tuesday. Testing is free, and visitors will have results in 24 to 48 hours, according to a flyer sent out by Plainfield School District 202 about the holiday screenings. No appointments are needed, either.
